Overview
It is a person who evaluates the mental, linguistic, psychomotor, social, emotional and self-care abilities of hospitalized children at the age range of 0-18 years with normal or abnormal development (growth retardation) and who provides guidance and support for the child, the family and the educator about supporting all development and skill fields and performs necessary developmental, educational and mental tests.

- Counseling for parents regarding development and education of the child.
- Guidance and counseling for problems which may occur in newborns.
- Guidance and counseling for growth and development (social/mental/communication and physical) of the baby
- Guidance and counseling about choosing games and toys that fit developmental stage and age of the child.
- Guidance and counseling about sibling rivalry
- Guidance and counseling about routine sleep cycle, eating cycle and toilet skills.

- Multiple intelligence theory studies depending on skills of the children.

- Plays an efficient role in supervision of high-risk babies and children. And supports and supervises the development. Identifying risk factors which threaten development of the child, including but not limited to premature birth and social disadvantage; designating a protective and preventive program for the family.
- Preparing developmental support programs in accordance with needs for children with special talents, and children with learning disorder, mental retardation, linguistic, visual, auditory, orthopedic, neurologic, generic, psychiatric problems, metabolic diseases, attention deficit, hyperactivity disorder, emotional and behavioral disorders. Performs developmental psychometric tests. Prepares, implements and follows up home/institution/school-centered programs appropriate for development.
- Providing guidance and counseling for age of children to start school.
- Collaborates with Pediatric Neurologist, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist and Pediatrician.
