Overview

Diagnostic procedures available at our Nuclear Medicine Department:

  • Lung perfusion-ventilation scintigraphy
  • Brain SPECT
  • Renal scintigraphies (DTPA-MAG-3 dynamic renal scintigraphy, DMSA static renal scintigraphy, Captopril renal scintigraphy)
  • Cardiac and circulatory system scintigraphies (tated cortex perfusion scintigraphy with TI-201 or Tc-99m MIBI, radionuclide angiography, lymphoscintigraphy)
  • Bone scans (whole body bone scan, bone SPECT, regional bone scintigraphy, bone marrow scintigraphy)
  • Thyroid tests (thyroid scintigraphy with Tc-99m or 1-131, whole body screen with 1-131, thyroid uptake test)
  • Gastrointestinal scintigraphies (hepatobiliary system scintigraphy, liver SPECT, gastrointestinal bleeding focus determination, salivary gland scintigraphy, gastric emptying time determination, liver-spleen scintigraphy, hepatic blood pool SPECT, investigation of Meckel’s diverticulum, gastroesophageal reflux scintigraphy)
  • In diagnosis and follow-up of tumors (whole body screen with TI-201 or Tc-99m MIBI, I-131 whole body screen, whole body screen with I-131 MIBG, I-131 norcholesterol scintigraphy, VDMSA scintigraphy, In-ili octreotide scintigraphy)
  • Infection imaging (Ga-67 scintigraphy, Tc-99m HIG scintigraphy)
  • Other scintigraphic scans (dacryoscintograhy, parathyroid scintigraphy, testis scintigraphy etc.)

Treatments provided at our department:

  • Treatment of hyperthyroidism with Radioactive Iodine-131: Radioactive iodine-131 therapy is a common and one of the most preferred treatments for hyperthyroidism. The studies conducted since 1944 demonstrated that this therapy poses no risk for the patients.
