Hematology

Overview

Hematology is a discipline deals with diseases of blood; anemia (iron deficiency anemia, Thalassemia, Vitamin B12 deficiency anemia, sickle cell anemia); diseases that cause numeric or functional disorders in leukocytes (the defense cells of the body) and platelets (blood cells that prevent and stop bleeding); diseases that cause vascular occlusion; diseases that leads to bleeding diathesis, such as hemophilia; and cancers that begin in bone marrow and lymphatic system (acute leukemia, chronic leukemia, multiple myeloma, lymphoma etc.) are diagnosed and treated.

Our hematology clinic offers outpatient and inpatient healthcare services. Peripheral blood smear and bone marrow aspiration and biopsy are performed and used to facilitate diagnosis. Moreover, blood and blood products (erythrocyte suspension, platelet, plasma etc.) are also transfused.

Early intervention minimize the damage and injury in three fourths of patients. Therefore, our fully equipped ambulances serve our population since the first day of our foundation. Thus, cardiac catheterization, angiography, balloon angioplasty and stent implantation are performed as soon as after patients are quickly transferred to our hospital and they are operated on promptly, if required.
