Discussions on Rheumatology Division first started globally in 1930s and the division was established in late 1970s in our country. Rheumatology Division of our university was founded in 1996 and started fellowship training in 1998.
Patients are assessed through a holistic approach regarding medical conditions and inflammatory rheumatoid diseases such as spondyloarthropathy (rheumatoid spinal inflammation), rheumatoid arthritis, connective tissue diseases (systemic lupus erythematosis, Sjorgen’s syndrome, scleroderma), gout disease, vasculitis (diseases which cause vascular inflammation), Familial Mediterranean Fever, Behçet’s disease and non-inflammatory rheumatoid diseases such as osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease), osteoporosis, fibromyalgia are diagnosed and treated in Rheumatology Division.
